I'll preface by saying I actually like this song. I remember hearing it, about to put on something else, when I heard the words.
After listening to it I realized these are the next voting generation, and they're Pissed Off and rightly so, Listen to it if you like, or simply read the lyrics, but in a concise way, they say they won't be voting the status quo.

I say thumbs up to these kids, I just hope they are able to continue with the groundwork we'll be laying for them via TEA.
Video at bottom.

"Anthem Part 2"

Everything has fallen to pieces,
Earth is dying help me Jesus
We need guidance, we've been misled,
young and hostile, but not stupid.

Corporate leaders, politicians,
kids can't vote, adults elect them
Laws that rule the school and workplace,
signs that caution, sixteen's unsafe.

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame

Let this train wreck burn more slowly,
kids are victims in this story
Drown our youth with usless warnings,
teenage rules they're fucked and boring

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame

Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to pieces,
Everything has fallen to ...

We really need to see this through,
we never wanted to be abused,
We'll never give up, it's no use,
if we're fucked up you're to blame!

Excellent hook.  I like it.  Captures the early-century angst-mosphere.

Here's an anthem from my draft-year (I was 190):

MC5 - The American Ruse

Teen-aged angst is not new in music. Possibly the standard-bearer for girls came with Janis Ian's song "At Seventeen"...it won a Grammy Award in 1976.

Lyrics are in this version....

Good comparison, but sadly back then, the message that won out was anti war, all sponsored by the enemy.
A message that ushered in the likes of the Clintons.
I just hope the message I'm hearing in today's music is majority and resonating and growing.

This song was representative of some of this genre, the message of being over coddled, information overload, and being lied to by everyone, from TV to politicians,  these kids don't seem to be swallowing the package like our generation did.

We were raised to believe lying to the people was wrong, and that if you did it, there;d be consequence, but instead, these people move into the WH and Congress.
I expect a serious backlash from these new young voters.

Anthems hafta be tuneful.  The Right was into Vegas and Hollywood 50-ish years ago, exactly the opposite of today, and provided virtually nothing tuneful for the kids.  Not even personal anthems... self, against 'society'.
