I don't know about you guys, but I'm really getting tired of these movies like The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit being cut up into sections. I loved the books, but wasn't very impressed with the movies. They just seem to add just enough that wasn't in the books, to the movies to make them long enough to make them separate movies.

The LOTR was originally 6 books, but published into a trilogy, so 3 moves wasn't that bad, even through they left out a lot and ruined the ending by making Frodo and Samwise fight. It was their friendship that made the entire story work, since they were for literally 3/4 of the book alone except for Gollum.

The Hobbit, though had no excuse for being elongated and I'm really not sure If I will be spending my money seeing the final movie.
Deeper questions have often been the offspring of former answers.  knowledge, Wisdom and understanding demands it to be so.

The Hobbit was a much more "innocent" book that the Lord of the Ring Trilogy. I believe Tolkein originally wrote it for his young granddaughter IIRC. The Lord of the Ring Trilogy ended up being much darker...

Jackson has tried to meld the history of the One Ring that was related in the The Lord of the Ring into the Hobbit and, frankly, it just doesn't work!

He also felt the need to "enhance" some scene with mindnumbing special effects and plot devices which weren't in the book. If you are familiar with the book, you know what I'm talking about.

These don't work either!

About the only thing he did add that I approved of was when the eight dwarves pulled all the legs off of one of the giant spiders in Mirkwood! I'm glad I wasn't sipping my soda at that point because I'm sure some of it would have come out my nose! LOL

I'm debating on whether I should go see The Battle of Five Armies in the theater or wait for it to come out on DVD.

All in all, I much prefer the animated, made for T.V. version of The Hobbit to Jackson's version. With all of its failings, I still feel it is more in tune with  the spirit of the book.
