We saw the movie "Secretariat" tonight, and my better half and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

If you are a sports fan, if you have even a passing interest in the Triple Crown horse races, and if you remember or want to know more about Secretariat and his 1973 Triple Crown race victories, and the story behind the scenes, then you will LOVE this movie.

I remember Secretariat very well, and I saw all three of the Triple Crown races in 1973, cheering for Secretariat to win each of them.  It's hard to believe it was 37 years ago.  It feels like it was yesterday.

Secretariat has been called the greatest racehorse of all time by many experts, and I have always agreed with that assessment.

37 years later, Secretariat still holds the track record for the Kentucky Derby and still holds the track record for the Belmont Stakes, which he won by an incredible 31 lengths.  Secretariat also holds the "unofficial" track record for the Preakness, as timed by many professional horse racing people, but a malfunctioning "official" track timer has denied Secretariat the track record.

"Big Red" was a great racehorse.  Go see the movie.  Diane Lane deserves an Academy Award nomination.  It's a definite DVD buy for my family.

Great movie. Lots of fun. Something you can take the kids to see if you can get them to sit still that long.
