Title: What do you consider too many sick days and taking advantage?
Post by: tracy9 on November 08, 2018, 06:30:07 AM
My coworker has called in sick at least 10 times since Feb and has left early sick or for dr appts about 20 times.  She is a young active woman who travels all the time and always seems healthy but she has so many excuse to be out.  Chest pain, shoulder pain, back pain,  pelvic inflammatory disease, food poisoning, ear infection, lung infection,  then her dog has an ear infection, or he husband is sick.   She is usually about half hour late most days but doesn't stay late.  We have a extremely stressful work environment yet no attendance policy.  I have never called in in 5 years and when I have been sick I worked from home.  Others have that option and choose to call in if they feel under the weather.

Tracy9 is this the same person you were talking about in your earlier post? Or is this separate?

Oh and forgot one.  A UTI last month where she worked from home for 3 days (at least she worked).

I have been following your posts and would like to share my thoughts. If all you say is true your employer has some malingerers on the payroll. The employer is either to naive too recognize it or does not have the courage to address it. I see you have three choices:

1) Accept it and make the best of it.

2) Address it with your employer if you are willing to accept any consequences from that conversation.

3) Find another job.

If you choose none of these, it is time to forget it and move on. Complaining here will not solve your issue.

Yeah, the last time I worked for anyone was 30 years ago, so I can't even begin to relate in today's PC world.

I was on vacation during the Rodney King thing.

I was so lucky.

There's no way I could have kept my mouth shut.
