QuoteMichelin isn't the first to market either. Polaris jumped ahead of the tweel revolution when it launched the Sportsman WV850 H.O. in 2013. This is an ATV fitted with a set of TerrarinArmor tires, which are a similar idea to Michelin's tweels.

snip~
The tweel (a portmanteau of tire and wheel) has been a concept in the tire industry for some time now.

If you're not familiar with that term, it refers to an airless tire.

Michelin has been developing its tweel for over 10 years. Now the French tire giant is ready to bring this revolutionary roller to the market

I was really excited about these when I posted about it years ago, but now that they came out with a price and max speed, forget that, at $750.0 a wheel and a max speed of 37 Mph, the wheel is useless to 70% of their target market.
The minute I hit the throttle, I'm doing 40 in my Razer, even my old 650 Prairie cruises faster than that. The only units that this will adapt to are the diesel engine models that seldom reach 37 Mph unless they're going downhill with the wind at their back.

This explains the ridiculous price, the mkt is extremely small, so they jacked the price up to exorbitant heights because if the product is successful, they won't need replacing, it's a one time sale.

All I can see it for is riding lawn mowers.  But then I can fix a lot of wheels for 750.00$.  For that much I can put on new wheels.

Nitrogen is a great gas, better than air, but for off road, I prefer the hardening foam you fill the tire with that never goes flat.
They have a gel out as well, kind of like silly putty when installed.
I'm looking at getting the Run Flat 12 ply installed next week. Nothing worse than a flat in the forest miles from anywhere.

GPS A-033 RUN FLAT

12-ply rating and super stiff sidewalls leave this tire completely rideable with a flat. Perfect for hunters, ranchers, and government agencies that don't want to carry a spare.

Rating: 12 Ply

Size: 29x11-14

Price: $272
