Sold my house

Though we've been in the process for quite sometime now, it wasn't until Saturday night when I got a call from the Sacramento police dept telling me some people had broken into the home, that they had removed squatters from the home.
Thanks to the diligence of my neighbor taking the time to question their presence, when they informed him they were renters.
He knew this was a lie because he was in the process of attaining a loan to buy the house and knew I had no interest in renting it out. So he called the cops, they arrived, wrestled one in the hallway, and arrested a pregnant bitch in the process of shooting up. Yeah, pregnant druggie.

Anyway, I asked him if he had secured the funds to buy the home, he had not, so I asked if he really wanted the house, he assured me he did, so I told him he has a year to get a loan, and in the interim, he could rent it with a a portion going toward the down payment.
I know this guy, I've known his family since the very early 60s, his father and mother were both grand children of slaves, their daughter had a baby, the father disappeared, so she lived with her parents, her daughter followed suit, the result is the young man I'm selling the house to, he is starting the Sheriffs academy this week, also holds down a full time job with excellent pay.

I must say, despite the personal issues the family struggled through, they still managed to stay intact as a loving family unit and produced a quality young man.
Two problems solved, I no longer have to worry about the house and it's sold, though at a steep discount to him which I don't mind in the least, because i know it's going to someone that wants it to live in and not just flip it for a profit, because he loves his mother and grandmother and will be right next door if they need him.

Oh, and in the process of combing through the mess they left, Toy found a two page document of a rental agreement, the only reason it was not filled out yet, they didn't know who owned the home, but this is a sure sign they were in it for the long haul that may have caused legal issues for me, assuming I hadn't personally eradicated the rat infestation on my own first.
And believe me, I would have.

I know the exact feeling. We had weekend cabin further up into the mountains Mrs. Sup had from the mid eighties. We had put a good bit into upgrades, but the time came when it was more work than fun. Took a small loss on all the improvements, but had 30 years pf pleasure. However, one has to experience the situation to understand the sense of relief once it is gone.

Yeah, one has to decide if its really a loss or a relief. I agree, even though I could have easily, well, maybe not easily, but I could have held out for another 50K, but I just don't care anymore about the money, I feel I did a good thing in giving this young man a great start in life, and no amount of money would ever make up for the goodwill he will pass on to another.
