This is from NPR of all things, recorded during the OWS movement.
Bottom line? Conservatives are naturally optimistic. Anyway, that's my take.

Every night I enjoy a little surfing and always go to MSNBC and CNN. The folks are always angry and complaining. It is in their DNA to be negative. That makes sense as the only thing they have to sell is negativity. That is why it is important that we just stay out of the way of their misery.

Yeah, some of my favorite surfing is on you tube the night Trump got elected. The look on their face when they realized their eight year run was over.

     Synonymous.

Libs gravitate towards and create liberalism, because they're miserable. You know the type, the busy body, the person that involves themselves in other peoples issues because they don't want to face their own.
They're the committee members on an HOA, home owners association, where they can dictate what your home looks like and how you live.
Communists are identical, they own the means of production, they choose who does what, they are bureaucrats, they hate the idea of Free Will and Liberty.

It is amazing how HOA committee members become the Gestapo.

Yep. I see it all the time. Libs from the Bay Area come up her, buy into a small grouping of homes and start banning together because they want sidewalks, streetlights, a community gate to keep people out.
Screw the people that lived their 40 or more years, "we want it to be like the city we destroyed", but this time, we'll put in a gate.

My idiot neighbor tried this very thing, but my neighbors laughed at her. She wanted sidewalks on our tiny forest road so she could walk easier. Everyone told her the same thing, "It's a Damn Forest Stay Off The Damn Road and Walk On Your Own Property"!!!
People already have to watch for wildlife, they don't want to contend with you, you moron. The road is a one lane chip sealed road meandering through old growth forest, and to put in a sidewalk would mean removing trees.
The bitch is an idiot and busy body name dropping twit that thinks she's better than the rest of us. I just got into it with her just the other day as have most of the people around here, hopefully they'll be moving soon back to the city.

You just don't move to the country and expect sidewalks.

In some of the gated communities on Hilton Head Island homeowners cannot put a fence around their pools. The HOA ignores the fact they just assumed responsibility for drownings by not allowing fencing.

Yep, and we all know how they are. It has nothing to do with critical thought, it's all about how you "FEEL" about an issue.

I have a concrete pad in front of my double garage. Along with a sidewalk going to my back door and front door.  That's all the concrete I need to see in the countryside.  The rest is all gravel roads other then State Rt. 14 along the Columbia river.  If I had to I could drive on gravel roads all the way into town 65 miles away.  You just have to know all the farmers gravel roads or you would get lost.  No road sings

Solar, is it a road in which it is one lane and b/c it is one lane one has to pull over if someone else is driving down the opposite way?  And, sometimes you may have to back up to find a spot to pull over?

Yep. Courtesy is the rule. Some neighbors learn the hard way, but they all eventually come around.

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about.  I've been to the mountains and drove on that type of road.  It's a bitch to drive on and you have to drive extremely slow, careful and deliberate.

There is a lot of trees and wildlife there including lots of deer.  The time I did spend at the mountains I loved it.  It was quiet and peaceful.  I loved the sounds of nature.  And, mountain folks have a sub-culture of their own that they've had for years.  And, that culture is more independent then the culture of the suburb or the city.  Ya got to be.  Nearest service areas and towns are miles away.

I can see why there would be resentment towards libs trying to go in there to change it.  It is their way of life and their identity developed from it.  The libs would be killing their identity and soul.

A lot of the people from the city and suberbs are in love with the ideal of nature not what one has to do to live in it.  They're not used to mountain living and woody areas.

And, mountain folks are super polite.  When you pass them on these roads they wave hi to you all the time.  City folks and suberbean folks ignore you and I'm used to that.

I do wonder if I could do it.  Could I actually live a mountain folks life?

Why couldn't you? Less people, more self reliance, commonsense and critical thought imperative, so there are no gray areas, everything is black and white.
Not enough food? You starve, Not enough propane? You use firewood..Etc
It is truly, a return to humanity without all the leftist dressings of a city, where you are forced to figure out what someone identifies as, you can't wear a red hat without the threat of attack, wrong neighborhood could get you killed.
Up here, it's you against Nature, that's all.
