San Francisco East (Asheville) has been looking for another police chief for several months. It has not been easy. Here is a quote from the local FOP leader:

"I've talked to several chiefs and heard from several chiefs across the state, and the general consensus is Asheville's the last place you want to be chief."

Why would this be. WNC is a beautiful place to live. It is because the local council and mayor are leftists and will not allow the APD to do its job. I just saw a piece on FNC with the Sacramento police chief and it seems there is similar situation in that city.

If the place is anything like Sac, no one will ever take the job but a hardcore leftist, but then, expect crime to skyrocket.
Sac has become a shithole and it all started because of LBJ.

The previous chief was a gay female who tried to do a decent job with the current council makeup. She was run off due to one of those police brutality cases the left embraced.

Yep. There is no winning, even when they try and do the Right thing, the left turns it political every time.
Look at the mess in SF and shit on the streets, all because they refuse to let the police do their job. The day is coming when police do an nationwide walkout/exodus and leave these shitholes to dwell in their own mess.
I know that sounds extreme, but I wouldn't be surprised if they all get together and do what Portland police did and #walkaway.
