Comcast hit with FCC's biggest cable fine ever
by Jackie Wattles

Comcast is being forced to pay the largest fine the FCC has ever levied against a cable operator. Its offense: Charging customers for services and equipment they didn't ask for.
The company agreed to pay a $2.3 million civil penalty and to submit to a "compliance plan," in which regulators will monitor Comcast for the next five years to ensure it cleans up its act.
"It is basic that a cable bill should include charges only for services and equipment ordered by the customer -- nothing more and nothing less," Travis LeBlanc, chief of the FCC's Enforcement Bureau, said in a statement.

I cut the cable cord a few years ago and never looked back.

If you have a landline, look at the bill, it's packed full of Federally mandated shit you never agreed to.
The Fed is just pissed they weren't getting a cut from Comcast.

Got rid of my landline over a year ago and very pleased. Bundled my internet with my cable. The good news about my cable is the company is still local. Has local CS folks and that is so refreshing. I'm sure one of the cable giants will decide to make the local owners very wealthy at some point and my dream will end.

I have no other option but to keep a landline here in the Sierra, and cable will never venture this rural, not enough people.
But after seeing a friends bundled Comcast cable bill, no thanks, more than two hundred bucks over what I pay for identical services.

Got rid of the land line when I got rid of cable. Why have a land line when cell phones work so well. Most of the time.

Not where I live. Unless you're on a mountain top, forget getting a single bar.

No reception in the outlying areas is always a problem.
