Planes, trains, cars snarled by one of worst November storms to hit Chicago area — up to 13 inches and counting

Blizzard and winter storm warnings were canceled in the Chicago area Monday morning after one of the largest November storms on record dumped as much as 13 inches of snow, jamming the morning commute, canceling more than 700 flights at the city's airports, shutting hundreds of schools and knocking power out to more than 340,000 homes and businesses.

One final wave of winter weather still was expected to lash the area this morning, likely before noon, before the storm moves out of the area, according to the National Weather Service. Wet and icy roads were expected to persist until the system passes, with conditions clearing mid- to late morning from northwest to southeast.

A winter storm warning in Cook, Will and Grundy counties expired at 9 a.m., after earlier blizzard warnings were cancelled. A lakeshore flood warning remained in effect until noon for Cook County and Lake and Porter counties in Indiana, with officials warning people away from lakefront paths because of expected waves of 12 to 16 feet in Cook and 14 to 18 feet in Indiana.

As of 7 a.m., 7.4 inches of snow was recorded at O'Hare International Airport, the city's official measuring station. Crystal Lake got 7.6 inches and some areas of McHenry County got 13.1 inches, according to the weather service. Lindenhurst got 9 inches and Downers Grove 4.1 inches. Here in Colorado (Denver area) it's sunny, clear skies and going up to the mid 40's. The mountains got hammered with over a foot of snow this weekend, travel to the ski areas was a nightmare. This is normal for the Rockies, has been for thousands of years.

Global warming (weather) is the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the human race. Lead by the likes of Al Gore and H`wood it has probably cost the taxpayers billions to comply with the outlandish government regulations demanded by the leftist loons.

I use to live outside Chicago, Rockford, back in the early 80's and we had our share of blizzards and heavy snow. Somehow we survived, as I expect folks have for a very long time. You can't control or change the weather, but you can learn to accept it and deal with it like a sane person would.

Exactly! Same here in Ca, good helping of snow in the mountains and sunny skiing at the resorts, and as usual, anytime a weather event takes place, the left immediately blame man, problem is, most weather record only accurately go back 100 years, so to even attempt to claim this is climate change is pure bull shit, climate change takes centuries of change, not 100 years.

Well it does give the dumb bastards something to rally around.
