  One more stupid law for CA.  Just cross the state line.  Now the humane society will jack the cost even more.

snip~
Jerry Brown, the ultra-leftist progressive Gov. of California has just signed Assembly Bill 485 this last Friday, but it will take another year or so to actually go into full effect in 2019. This means pet stores have a limited time to change over their importing practices before, and if they are found in violation of this law in 2019, they could be fined up to $500.

As you know I am no supporter of Gov. Moonbeam. However, as an animal lover that has adopted 6"rescues" over the past 10 years or so, I don disagree with this law. We had two dogs from a private breeder before began our rescues. Our latest came from a breeder who bred our dog for five years and she lived her entire life in a crate. She turns these dogs over to a rescue when they turn 5. It was like starting with a puppy.

We get all our pets for the humane society when it time.  Gov. Moonbeam can go after the breeder not the pet shops.  The breeder will just go to the news paper or on line.  That does not stop the breeders abuse, go after the AKC that ignores abuse among breeders.

Exactly! It was never about making an actual difference, rather a Feel" good attempt with a band-aid on a heavily infected wound.

I say find both the AKC and the breeder each 5000$ for each pup/dog that is  abused.  Move it up 5000$ each time, and it soon will stop.  Hit the pocket book and thing will change.  Then go after PPH the same way.
