A quote from the professor in the article:

"I work as a tenured professor. I make 100K a year doing that. I will never be fired. I will always have people wanting to hear what I have to say."

This is the problem with our education system. Why should anybody be immune from possible dismissal?

Exactly! Removing the ability to fire removes the ability for the institution to benefit from the invisible hand of the free market. It is the epitome of stupidity.
