"Vending Machine" What was that? You either brought a snack or went without when I was in.

I remember my grandkids school had some.  I am sure they have beer and wine machines in college dorms by now.  That way they do not have to drink and drive.

Massively off-topic here: Are today's kids allowed to just say no to those hideous school lunches? In my day we just didn't let them put whatever-it-was onto our tray. Today it seems like eat-it-or-else.

It was never about healthy kids, it's always been about money, Fed money to be exact.
Remember how it didn't matter if you got an education, as long as you showed up? That's because the school was paid per head, today it's no different, schools are paid per head in the cafeteria, whether they eat it or not is irrelevant, the fact that they took a tray is how the school gets paid, even if they dump it after only eating the fruit and tossing the rest.

Schools have never been about educating, it's always been about an agreeable society, one of unity and conformity, and not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's why the left hates homeschooling, it creates dissidents, people willing to fight the system and the intellect to win.
