The newspaper story read:

"A tragic fire broke out in a New York City apartment building today. Dozens died as the smoke and flames rushed through the building. Two single black mothers and the nine children they had between them perished on the ground floor. A dozen illegal Haitian immigrants died on the second floor. Fourteen undocumented Mexican workers on the third floor were killed. Only the young white couple who occupied the top floor escaped death."

The Rev. Al Sharpton put down his newspaper and called Mayor Bloomberg. "What kinda racist city are you runnin', man? Can you explain this story about that apartment house fire? How is it that all those people of color died and the two honkies on the top floor survived?"

"Well, Al," the mayor replied, "it seems the couple who lived on the top floor were at work when the fire broke out..."

They'll probably be blamed for arson. ;D
