Interesting!
I'd love to see the same thing showing how the left has drifted away from our Founding Documents.

Why are cities and certain upscale areas democratic and rural areas republican?  What myths and values dominate each?  Take Massachusetts or Wyoming, one democratic the other republican, both nice places imo.  Rural PA where we live - we are in Philly still - is very republican but modern times have made it a bit of economic wasteland. It is sad to see so many places rundown. But then an enormous Walmart dominates the landscape. Some say rural areas are more religious but is the republican party seriously religious? That's a debate. Church is a refuge but it doesn't feed the kids. Sorry for my rambling here but I do wonder given most polices that help people were created by the democrats: LBJ FDR to name two. Even FMLA which many republicans I know use and like.

One can debate if Medicare is overall good for the folks. Even that program is at risk. However, I ask what other programs introduced by LBJ have been good for the folks?

I'm not really interested in debating the specific policies you might be referring to because I think the real conversation is a level lower than that one. Do you judge these things from a utilitarian perspective or deontological perspective? Is this perspective consistent across all of your other positions?
