At an hour 51 minutes, this interview by Bill Kristol of former Vice-President Dick Cheney is NOT just casual listening, though the first 20 minutes or so are simply loaded with detail, with Cheney describing how he became Secretary of Defense and tossed aside his prior career path. His take on the build-up to taking down Saddam is, I feel, worth inclusion in this History forum if only for sparking some debate on how and why 40% of the world's oil supply was NOT reason enough to take down a tyrant.

Funny stuff? Sure. Cheney reminds us that Carter sent unarmed planes to bolster Saudi Arabia after the fall of the Shah --- and announced they were unarmed before they ever arrived. (Is that a liberal Democrat, or what?!?!)
