History almost went differently, had A.J. Savage won out over John Browning for the pistol the U.S. Army needed for World War I. Here's an entertaining, culturally-relevant history of the weapon that won many wars, on the 100th anniversary of its introduction.

The National Firearms Museum visitors' instructions are included. (Free admission!)

Thanks for the vid. Just last year I made the transition from revolver to auto for my sidearm, and the one I chose was a Rock Island made in the fashion of the venerable Colt 1911.

After thirty years or better of walking the woods relying on a wheel-gun, that is no small concession.

Has any one here a 1911 with an UNDERWOOD stamp on the slide?
