Maybe it's unique to me, but my password is rejected -- just once -- EVERY TIME I try to sign on the board. After it's rejected, I retype it exactly the same way, and I'm in.

WTF?

Anyone notice this? I'm always wondering if it's browser-specific (I use Google Chrome mostly) or it it's in the site's front-end.

Sorry tbone, I have not had that happen even once.   Taxed would be the one that could check into this for you.

Actually, sometimes I don't even have to re-type it. The PC I have in my workshop "remembers" the user name and password and auto-enters them when I call up the site's main page. The response is identical: refused the first time, accepted the second, even though I don't actually type in anything at all.

Taxed! Where are you loafing? WTF? Are you hangin' out in that pool hall again?

Let me clarify. It doesn't really matter if I type in the password or if the password is "remembered." Either way, about a third of the time, my password is rejected. This happens on at least three different machines, including a laptop that tends to travel from network to network. About a third of the time, but NEVER more than once.

However, I must admit that ONE thing all three have in common, and every instance of password "forgetfulness" I talk about shares this, is that they occur using Windows XP Pro. Both desktops and the laptop use XP Pro. And I know you, taxed, you'll be on this like bark on a tree... But I don't think I'm a real standout, with my weird XP Pro, do you? I don't know that we've ever taken an OS poll on the board. Maybe it's time?

XP is a pretty stable OS, I liked it, but I'm going to venture a guess.
You use the same anti virus on all three pooters, correct?
For S&G, try disabling you AV for a moment to log in and see if that helps.

Old thread, I know, but it happens to me every time too.  Not a big deal, but my info is stored and comes up, but when I log in, it says incorrect password. I do it again, and I'm in--every time.  The computer I use most is XP.  Haven't used the other here yet.

Try deleting the cookie, it may be stuck with an outdated one.
Or could it be you clean your cash regularly?

Sounds like a Windows issue to me.

I use ccleaner regularly.  I don't delete log-in info though.  Not a big deal, but I thought I was the only one it happened to.

Yep, that's it, it's removes the cookie the forum recognizes you with.
Maybe you can tell cleaner to ignore the forum cookie?
