Title: My Community Support Services: Here is what I ask
Post by: cubedemon on December 05, 2015, 04:21:18 PM
As you all know, I am on SSDI.   I want to be able to get off of SSDI and be gainfully employed.   I need assistance and guidance to do that.  My community disability support services is willing to help and I was finally able to meet the person I was supposed to meet yesterday.  Because I am not their typical client and due to the fact that it is covered by medicaid and not on medicaid I won't be covered.  They're checking out to determine what my options are and making contacts with people they know.

I may or may not have to pay though.   I may or may not be able to afford it.   I will find out what happens and what the next step is next Wednesday.  Either they will call me and if they don't by a certain time I will call them.  If I can't reach them again, I will go up there again like I did yesterday and make more waves like I did yesterday.

Now, here is what I am asking and what I am requesting.  If I have to pay and it is over what I can afford I am putting something up on gofundme.com describing my situation.   What I ask and request is to be able to 1.  Advertise that on this forum and 2.  I ask and request to have you all provide me with donations.

I will make sure to obtain receipts and post them online (with my name blackened out) to demonstrate that I'm using the funds in the way I'm promising to use them.

I want to be gainfully employed and made functional to society.   You guys want welfare and socialism gone.   You guys give me the money.  I get the assistance I need to become gainfully employed and functional; you're a step closer to having welfare and socialism gone.  It's a win-win.

In addition, I'm going to different boards as well.

Putting the cart before the horse, aren't you?

First, I would ask a local charity, a church or a social group in your area, they will have far more outlets willing to help, people they can connect you with.
But putting all your eggs in the gofundme basket is a pretty big gamble, in that you may only make enough to get you started in a program.
That's definitely setting yourself up for failure.

It seems odd to me that you qualify for SSDI and they wouldn't have those services for you.  I'm sure your not their first client on the spectrum.

Wait until you go next week to see if they find some type of coverage for you.

What was the type of program they have that your interested in?

If one is on SSDI there is a way to qualify for Medicare after a period of time. Have you checked on that?

I have a relative on SSDI and first went on Medicaid and after a certain period of time was eligible to convert to Medicare. SS is adament about someone on SSDI not exceeding a certain amount of income.
