I know the importance of doing so and why it's necessary when referencing a story. My problem is that I use my phone to access this site all the time and can't post links through it. Can I just describe where the story is (i.e. "CNN has a story about....") so that people can google it or find it on their own? I don't post very many threads that have linked stories but if I do, I want to know if my thread would be locked if I were to reference the story in this way. Thanks

Or, you cold say it's at CNN, and copy n past the last part so there is no confusion, as in this thread, we all know it's CPF, so you merely post the following lead.

There is a problem with geographic local. For example, When Taxed and I do a search on google to see where they are placing the site in ranking, his shows the #1 position, while out here on the West coast, mine shows 3rd.
Same with CNN and some of the larger sites, they target certain areas with stories pertinent to the demographics.

Take Hitlery, lets assume a certain story would fare well amongst the majority in the West and East, but the South views it in the negative. Well Hitlery may want a different story running in the South that paints her in a better light.
CNN can do this, so it's important that you post the actual address, or we might get an entirely different version of the same story you did..

Rare, but it does happen. So called "NEWS", after all, is a commodity to be sold for the right price.
