You checked the lint catcher in your dryer? I just checked mine. I use dryer sheets in the winter, so, I pulled it cleaned the lint off and stuck it under the faucet. Mine held water. This is not good. Stops air flow, slows down everything. Some warm water and a bit of dish soap will do the trick. Then dry it off.
Gotta love dryer sheets.

I've never understood why people use it on towels, it is designed as a water repellent. :blink:
I clean ours lint catcher the 1st of every month. We do not use dryer sheets, if it smells bad :ohmy: wash it again. :lol:

I keep the lint myself for firestarter. Works great and I use the used sheets for dusting. Heard tell candle wax and used sheets make nice starters to. I only use em in the winter. Or, when I'm not able to use the clothes line....
Am I misunderstanding lint catcher? I clean mine before each use.
Also, check your dryer hose. If that gets clogged up, it prevents the clothes from drying properly and could be a fire hazard.
I use liquid fabric softener on some things. I think it helps to prevent rinkles and I especially like it for levis, but not towels.
A laundry hint if you use a lot of bath towels. If they do get too stiff (not fluffy) run a load without soap in hot water. You'll be surprised how much soap they retain and what shows up in the wash cycle. Rinse a second time with a little fabric softener. It really helps get that stiff/scratchy feeling out of them.

I think her point was that even though she cleaned her lint screen, the wax and oils from fabric softener was building up to the point that when she ran it under water, the water refused to drain through.

1.Remove your lint filter from your dryer.
2.Wash the screen with warm soapy water. You can use a soft brush (an old toothbrush works) but don't put too much pressure on the screen.
3.Hand dry the screen and leave it out until it's completely dry.
4.Reinstall the filter into your dryer.

By clean...you just take off the lint, right? Yep I do that to. But to clean it wash the lint keeper in warm soapy water. Test to see if it needs it. Even with liquid softner, see if the lint catch holds water....if it does, you should wash it. You'll be surprised.

Exactly....to look at it, it looks fine. The water Test does the tell. If water can't get thru neither will air.
