So ya know the old story from Grandpa or Dad, of having to walk up hill both ways just to go to school and home again.  And in the snow at that.

I do a 5 mile walk every day. (unless we go into town and thats an all day trip)  It is up hill starting out until I turn around and then come back home.  Today I had a 30 mil hr wind coming down hill going home bucking it all the way home.  It was feeling like walking up hill both ways.   Sometimes I was getting guest of 35 to 40 and could not move forwards.  Good thing there was no snow as I would have slid uphill for 10 miles.   :))

I can relate, when I was a kid growing up in the Sacto. valley, I would leave the house in the morning bucking a North wind to deliver the paper 11 miles away, when I was done, the Delta breeze would kick in at around 25 mph going home, never really got a break, it was tough.

But when I got older, I would watch the weather and when there were North winds predicted to around 45mph, I would ride about 25 miles North, and open my supply parachute I got at the Army surplus and have one Hell of a ride home.

I tried using it once by jumping out of a giant Eucalyptus tree about 30' up, the ride was good till I caught a branch about 10' off the ground.
My real life cartoon moment. ouch... :-[ ::) :))
