Time for change...and what I did.

So far I am down 22 lbs.  On a 5"1' frame that is about 3 sizes smaller.  This and future posts will be about how I got here.  Am I done...nope.  I still have about 10 more to lose.  SO what changed...

1)  My attitude - Back at the end of May I took one long look at myself and knew things has to change.  I was at my heaviest since having babies and my left ankle seemed to ache all of the time.  Why shouldn't it - I was asking it to carry around and extra 30+ pounds and to do it in heels most days.  I knew what to do (I am a ex Weight Watchers leader.)  But just could not get myself in the frame of mind to do it.

2) I came across a book called the Primal Blueprint.  Yes I read diet books for entertainment - This book covered what is known as a Paleo diet/lifestyle.  As with most things I took what I liked and modified it from there.  At first I thought it would be difficult to give up grains, legumes, potatoes, corn....  you get the idea.  Strangely enough for me it wasn't.   Within a few days I felt good.  No more tummy issues, my energy level went up, and my stomach didn't look all bloated. (wheat/gluten).  I have a daughter who is diagnosed as celiac so she confirmed my findings on the tummy things.

3)  I sat down and had a heart to heart with Solar.  I needed his support and wanted him on board with everything I was choosing to do for myself.  My health insurance had two things I took advantage of.  A wellness coach who I talk with once a week (free) and a 12 week weight lose class ($150 of which I got $75 back after completing the course successfully).  I completed the class a little over a week ago with a total lose of 14 pounds.

4) At 15 pounds lost Solar surprised me with a FitBit Flex.  Great motivational tool which I will cover in a different post.

So all of this was just my way of saying I have made some major changes and couldn't be happier with the results.  Toy

Thanks Walks.  As with anything else, Solar and I are a team.

So my final tally for pounds lost was around 32 pounds.  The aching joints, the upset stomachs, and most of my gas problem is gone.  People who haven't seen me in awhile are amazed but best of all I feel healthy and am able to accomplish so much more here at home.  The walks down the mountain with the dogs are so much easier.  On most trips I am carrying a basket of kindling back up with me.

As I unpacked my winter work wardrobe the stack to give away was so much larger than the stack I kept.  I am down 3-4 dress sizes and wearing some dress pants I have carried around for over 15 years.  Solar was sweet and gave me some $$$ to go shopping for some new work clothes.

The next couple of months will be challenging but I believe I am up to this challenge as my oldest and I are planning a gluten free baking and cooking day for the holidays.
