Ah, another Newbie. Hail and well met, sieur!  Breakfast helps set the baseline for blood sugar level for the whole day, which can significantly impact metabolic function including neurological, hormonal, thyroid, etc. People who eat (a reasonable less-than-3000-calorie) breakfast consistently have lower risk of diabetes over time. Allowing blood sugar to drop too low, then overeating causes systemic instability and increases diabetes risk.
