LONDON — Alcohol is more dangerous than illegal drugs like heroin and crack cocaine, according to a new study.
British experts evaluated substances including alcohol, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and marijuana, ranking them based on how destructive they are to the individual who takes them and to society as a whole.
Researchers analyzed how addictive a drug is and how it harms the human body, in addition to other criteria like environmental damage caused by the drug, its role in breaking up families and its economic costs, such as health care, social services, and prison.
Heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine, or crystal meth, were the most lethal to individuals. When considering their wider social effects, alcohol, heroin and crack cocaine were the deadliest. But overall, alcohol outranked all other substances, followed by heroin and crack cocaine. Marijuana, ecstasy and LSD scored far lower.
The study was paid for by Britain's Centre for Crime and Justice Studies and was published online Monday in the medical journal, Lancet.
Experts said alcohol scored so high because it is so widely used and has devastating consequences not only for drinkers but for those around them.

Not really. Alcohol for most people of European origin has long been a familiar product, and most of us in the body have enzymes that unbind it. That is, if you really do not abuse alcohol, then it can be consumed in small doses all your life until the 92s, like my uncle, who died last year. True, it often happened that he abused alcohol. My father, too, was no stranger to a good feast, but he drank rather moderately and lived up to 88 years old. But those friends of mine who used heroin and cocaine in search of pleasant sensations, no one lived to be 50. Our bodies have no defense against poppy and coca.

Makes control of the person so easy, just become their supplier, they will do anything for you. First you have to get them hooked, easier to do if it is legal. I have another question for all the liberals out there who want to see all drugs legal, when a person gets hooked on meth, or crack, they rarely are able to hold a job and have to steal and burglarize to support their now legal habit. So will the liberal government legalize stealing and burglary so the dope heads don't become criminals? Or will I just get my taxes raised to support their habits?

The reason that the DNC pushes for drugs and alcohol is that people are less apt to really think about the issues if they are bombed out of their minds. To someone under the influence, even an ugly person looks good. To a person under the influence, logic, thought, reason and facts mean nothing.

Bingo!!! Everyone is different, and everyone reacts differently to all of the above mentioned. Being a red head, it's a known fact we can tolerate much higher amounts of certain meds, but LSD? Now that one works off the individuals current mental state, body fat ratio, muscle mass, etc.
