Fall gathering is here. It's an on year for black walnuts, I'll be collecting and cleaning. Sheepheads mushrooms and puffballs are starting. I like those. I cook up the Sheepheads and freeze them , I do up some puffballs to. Great for stews soups or anything you use canned mushrooms for.
I did learn last year that puffballs make some darn good French toast. Peel, slice then use them instead of bread.
Time to go woods stomping.
Just apples... for apple-rings on the charcoal-grill as the season winds down.
Sounds good! I want to try n can some apple pie filling this year...
I've never thought of that. I don't bake pies though. It's a knife-peeling nightmare just to make homemade apple-sauce.

True that! I only do pies every once in a while, warmed up apples on pork, pancakes, waffles. We like that...

Yeah, even I would try that.
I had a large amount of cherries that had to be used or dumped. I used a straw to pit them. It worked, but sure had a mess when I was done. They did make a great pie though.

Pure brilliance. I can't believe I didn't think of that. Looks like it'll work for prepping pear & cinnamon icecream-topping too. I gotta attempt it.

If anything, it would fast and fun, but we have one of the old fashioned kind and it really does a great job.
