Title: Questions concerning Iridology
Post by: U_Kay on January 29, 2011, 10:50:35 PM
Iridology ... The study of Iridology asserts that through studying markings in the iris one can learn about the inner workings of the body

Has anyone ever spent the money to have this test performed? -or- Is anyone knowledge about this type of study? I have googled it and am curious.

No, and you shouldn't either, it was just another one of those 70s ideas that arose during the better health movement.
This is about as scientific as is Phrenology, another nutty science.

I appreciate that answer.  When I had googled it, I did notice a link with reference to it as a scam. I guess that is why I was so curious. Also, I would think the Chinese would be doing this if there is truth to it. I have a Dr Maoshing Ni book titled: Secrets of Self Healing. The index doesnt mention this form of study either.

Thanks for the comment, Solar.

I think because the media ran with it, many got the news it was new medicine, but typical media, they are not quick to admit they were duped, so the news that it simply didn't have credence, died, thats why you never heard about it's failure.

Too bad, it sounded promising.

I do know that in Chinese medicine, it is known that what is wrong internally is revealed externally. Example: hypertension~ a slight rash is visible on the upper cheek just below the left eye. It is visible in the morning when one wakes up.

Yes it is another tool that doctors use for early diagnoses.
But like the science of Facial Expression, it too has it's limitations.
I love reading faces, I used to be a private eye years ago, and it is an essential tool, but falls flat when you run across a sociopath, they have no internal voice of conscience, so they have no real stress that shows up in the face, making it virtually impossible to read them.

Yes it was true, when your mom said stop making those faces, or it will freeze that way. ;D

I have met a few of them and they do have 'numb' consciences! Amazing!  :(
