Without giving away my age too much...  I have owned several bread machines over the years.  I would read something that made me think how cool it would be having homemade bread every day.  So I would buy a machine use it once or twice and then it would sit until I finally would give it away.

Although I love my Breville mixer and hand kneading dough,  my hands are having too many issues to do it on a regular basis.  So after a little research I decided to buy the Kenmore Bread Machine.

So far I have made two 2 lb loafs of basic white bread.  Today I am trying a whole wheat version.  The basic white from start to finish was just over 3 hours.  The wheat will take just over 4 hours.

Some of the features that got my attention were the regular size loaf, (not that weird square one) and beeps to let you know it is done kneading so you can pull the kneading blade out before it rises and bakes.  No big hole in the bottom of your loaf.  It has 13 different options for baking including cakes, jam, and gluten free.

At this point Solar will expect fresh bread every couple of days.  I can actually set it up before I leave in the morning and by mid morning he would have a fresh warm loaf.  Maybe I will never have to buy sandwich bread again.

I can attest to perfect loaves so far, they actually come out perfect, but that's probably because of ST and her wizard like applications in the kitchen.

What you mean every couple of days Keemosabe?

Now to make your own home made butter, and you will need a fresh loaf every day.

We gave each one of the kid a bread machine when they move out of the house.
They have and use them to this day.

I gave the last one I had to my oldest daughter.....  Since she is gluten free she isn't really using it.  Toy

Dose she have celiac? My girlfriend suffers from celiac and had a hard time getting bread type products most of her life until gluten free became a popular diet choice. Now it's a little easier for her to get decent bread and pasta, cake and cookies

For me, there is nothing better in the world than fresh, hot bread drizzled in butter or honey. I may have to get a bread maker just thinking about it!

I am old fashioned. We had a bread machine. It did okay, but nothing to write home about. I still prefer sour dough and once I have starter, with the big Kitchen Aid mixer, the kneeding is easy. Still some work, but the mixer does most of it.

Yes she does.  She got diagnosed a few years ago.   She was a pasta fanatic - now we know why she was always miserable for days after eating it.

You are right there are so many gluten free products out there.  I have been giving her cans of rice flour I buy from Shelf Reliance.  She has used in it many things that call for flour and her fiancee is happy with how it turns out.  We even used it this year to make some of the Christmas cookies.  She happily had Cream Wafer cookies this year.

If your girlfriend can get on Pinterest she can find so many things there to bake, cook, and try.   Toy

I have a really nice Breville mixer Solar bought me a couple of years ago.  Great for bread making.  I have always enjoyed kneading bread and actually found it therapeutic but I have been having a lot of hand problems lately and this allows us to have that warm wonderful bread.  Toy
