My dad was like that, had a mug from his ship in WWII, hadn't washed it in 30 years, then one day mom scrubbed it out. :scared:
Dad calmly explained it cures the mug and the coffee never tastes bitter, then threw it in the trash.
Yeah, he was pissed.
