I found this interesting little tidbit of information and wanted to share.  Toy

Although they seem like a nuisance, the stickers or labels attached to fruit and some vegetables have more of a function than helping scan the price at the checkout stand. The PLU code, or price lookup number printed on the sticker, also tells you how the fruit was grown. By reading the PLU code, you can tell if the fruit was genetically modified, organically grown or produced with chemical fertilizers, fungicides, or herbicides.

The list (link) for the dirty dozen was interesting too.  Really makes me want that garden.

You want luscious, picture perfect, grown in America fruit? India is the place to go. For one thin American dime you can get same kind of Christmas stocking toe orange of your childhood memories.  Not so long ago hotels here in America would offer the same kind of quality fresh fruit with there breakfasts. Now we call them "Feeder Fruit" because they are the size and quality that used to go to livestock. It is a little sad we are offered second grade fruits and vegetables in our groceries now.

Holy cow!   Thanks for the heads up!...   I am really glad I am doing what I am doing.... soon I wont really "have" to go to the produce section at all.   Gardens seedling will be started very soon, and my indoor learning will begin when I get back from Bristol....

The Link to the Codes was especially interesting.

I sent it out to several hundred persons.
