Title: Good news for me.
Post by: Shooterman on May 10, 2011, 01:58:06 PM
Just got off the phone with a nurse at my cardiologist office concerning a chemical stress test I had yesterday. No arterial blockage showed up, and even though an ultrasound last week had shown a tad of valve leakage in two valves, the results were good. I had put off this test for about a year and a half because the last one I had scared the crap out of me. This one yesterday, after a change in the chemicals used was a 'walk in the park'. The results showed no blockage, even though I have to lose weight. Really took a load off my mind.

Congrats!
As we speak, I am having issues with my heart, angina to be specific, and it is no buggy ride.
The sad thing is, there really isn't a medication available out there that treats it, without sever side effects.

Sadly, if it doesn't kill me I will wish it had, someday in the distant future, preferably....

Sorry to hear that my friend. Keep plugging away.

Yeah, but it ain't the kind of pass to look forward to.

Do you have a cardiologist, Solar?

What causes the angina?

Do you have A-Fib? if so, a pacemaker will control that? I have A-Fib and a pacemaker which, btw, is running low on juice.

Do you have high blood pressure? Mine usually runs about 120 to 130 over 70 to 80. I take one small pill a day + Topol.

If you haven't been to a doctor in a while, then please, by all means, go.

Yes, and i get great care, the problem with my heart came from years of being an athlete with too much drive.
I basically burnt my heart, and all of its electrical connections.

I tried cardioablation, they literally killed me at the start of the operation, blew a hole in my heart and I damn near bled to death, woke straight up and in a lot of pain when they restarted my heart.

If anyone asks you if you know anyone thats had it, send them to me, I know more about its history than 95% of the doctors practicing it.
My previous cardiologist helped invent the procedure, but I only learned this after the fact.
He told me it should be outlawed.

Anyway, it was a complete failure and the final option is a pace maker, which I have been discussing with my newest doctor.

Get the pacemaker. I got mine in '02, I think. Had a rewire about a year and a half later, lost one lead, but it functions fine on one lead.

It is an overnight thing, at least it was for me. The replacement, as I understand it will be an in and out type thing presuming my lead is still good.

GET THE PACEMAKER![/b]

I have been leaning that way, but first I need to recover from the torn shoulder.
One injury at a time. :D

It'll take about 1 or 2 weeks for the incision to heal. You may as well let it heal when you can't do anything else.

When the nurse first called me and told me the Doctor said I needed a pacemaker, I almost dirtied my pants. The worst part, out of staying overnight in the hospital was being under the hood that covers your head when they are slicing and dicing. Later, because the vein into my ventricle was so long, he caused a clot that settled in my shoulder. Coumadin took care of that with a little time and it was clear sailing until the rewire. It's checked every so often with a phone call and that's about it.

Wow, I wish Shooter and Solar much luck with their hearts, that stuff isn't anything to sneeze at. Solar, your doctor blew up your heart? Wow. I think I'm wrong to complain about my RA after reading this thread; God bless you both.  :)

Thanks MM, but it was more of a burn, he burned a hole in it.

Cardioablation is a method of cauterizing areas on the heart to kill electrical connections.
I have more than 50 times the normal amount a person should have.

I envy Shooter for his check up. :D

Thanks, MM, but I'm feeling pretty good right now. At my age, ( remember, I'm so old, dirt was named for me )  the first thing I do is look out the window each morning to see if I'm looking at grass or the roots.

Now young man, you know why dirt was named after you.  As I remember it was you that made the first dirt, and your mom was pissed at you for over 10 decades.  ;D

Not so, Walks. The Good Lord and Gabriel was walking around Heaven taking about building the Earth and the firmaments, and I was cleaning the spittoons hidden behind some of the smaller clouds. Old Gabe loved a good chew and when he spit, he sometimes splattered it all over. My job was to keep everything tidy and clean and polish the spittoons. God and Gabe were trying to decide what to call things and especially the stuff that plants and trees would grow in when He made the Earth, and he spotted me behind a little cloud, and boomed out, What's your name, boy?' I replied, it's Dirt , Sir. 'Dirt', He asked. I said yessir. 'Are you funnin' me, boy'? Oh no Lord, that's my name. Dirt, it is, Sir. He looked at Gabe and said 'call that growing stuff Dirt'.

That's how Dirt got it's name. No fooling, Honest Injun, would I lie to you?
