Hello.  I am Tiny1.  I came over from Republican Operative when the server attacks hit.   They are still down.
I have been on the Atkins Diet for 8 1/2 months.  I have lost over 110 lbs.  My Blood Pressure is back to normal, and my cholesterol has dropped 20 points to 140.   I have never felt this good.
The problem began July 2013.  My wife's car caught fire in my driveway, and burned down my house.  Luckily, my 80 year old mother lives close, so we had to stay with her, while they rebuilt our home.   Our youngest Daughter(26) has Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism.  The stress became so great, my blood pressure shot up to 210/140.  Needless to say, I was hospitalized.
Once stabilized, I took Mom's advice and started Atkins.  5 days later, my BP was normal.  So, I just kept eating that way, to control my BP.
I went back to the doctor after 30 days, and had lot 40 lbs.  30 days later, another 35.  It just kept coming off.  Now, 110-115 ( not sure because I was over 400, and my scale topped out at 399, so it couldn't weigh me)pounds and 14 inches off my waist, and I am back in reasonable health.
The reason I started this thread, was to shed light on low carb dieting, and to help others with tips that help.  After reading about "ice cream for breakfast", I thought that I might share my method for low carb ice cream.
You need two ziplock bags.  Use "good" bags, so they don't break.  One, quart size, for the mixture, and one, gallon size,  for the freezing.
In the small bag, add 1/4 cup heavy cream, 3/4 cup unsweetened Almond milk.  I use vanilla, but unflavored works well, too.  Add 1/4 cup sugar or substitute.  I use Truvia, a Stevia sweetner.  Vanilla to taste.  Zip it closed.  Fill gallon bag 1/2 full with ice cubes.  Add 6 tbsp salt.  Drop in the small bag, and shake, rattle and roll for about 10 minutes until frozen.  If it gats too cold, use a couple of hand towels to hold it.  1 gram or less, of carbs.

Anecdotal proof that humans did not evolve to eat a vegan diet, as PETARDS claim.

I am very fond of Boca and Morning Star products.  All the flavor, none of the dead cow.  I too, have lost a massive amount of weight.  I'm not proud of how fat I got, but I am proud of how thin I am now.

Tiny1-

There is a person ... I think her name is Shelly.  But she has a blog.  I think it's called Eggface.  She has about 100 different recipes for no sugar, high protein ice cream.  I'm not a fan of ice cream so I don't read the blog much but in the weight loss community she is quite well known.

Here is the link, just do a search on ice cream and you'll find a ton of recipes:

This is going to probably be the worst informative answer you can find, but I want to convey that people on Atkin's diets are more proned to the third most painful thing in the world: hemorrhoids.

Trust me, don't do it.

I grew up eating what later became known as the Atkins diet, and I've never had roid problems, however, I suspect it has a lot to do with a change in ones diet, as in a shock to the system in such a drastic diet change if you've always eaten poorly all your life.
Atkins would definitely be a shock to the body.

As long as you don't have thyroid problems these products are ok.  Otherwise soy products can be dangerous.  I found out the hard way.

Sometimes when you are already preparing for your meeting in the office, and there's simply no time to make breakfast. On days when you're running out the door, grab a low carb protein bar or low carb shake to get something healthy in your system as you start the day. They'll help keep you full and kick-start your metabolism.

Can't function without carbs.  Every time I do a low carb diet, I feel so weak.

Here's hoping you keep the weight off.  My brother-in-law did this, but before the end of a year regained the weight.

I managed to lose about 70 lbs this year, went from 220 to 150, but I don't recommend it to anyone.  First get an infection in the lung, let it go to the blood, and settle in the spine.  This gives you shortness of breath, back pain and no appetite.  Doing this makes you lie around no eating and in pain.  Do this for a week or two between doctor appointments.

End result six hour surgery, eight days in ICU, another six in the hospital, and five to six weeks inpatient rehab followed by three months of outpatient rehab to relearn how to walk because you lost all your muscle mass.

My husband controls his weight with high protein Slim Fast drinks.  The high protein ones can be hard to find..... they are NOT the regular Slim Fast (10 grams of protein).  However, with 20 grams of protein per drink they are great at maintaining energy level.  They also satisfy his sweet tooth (milk chocolate).... and block hunger pangs for many hours.
