WASHINGTON — Ten companies are recalling 2 million bottles and jugs of the gel fuel used in outdoor decorations known as firepots because of the risk of serious burns.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the gel fuel has been linked to several dozen injuries when users could not tell whether the flame was extinguished. Pouring more gel on a burning pot can lead to dangerous flares or burns.

OMG, Are we not capable of making good decisions?
Do we really need instructions on how to light a match, or not squirt water into an electrical outlet?

Sheesh, you buy and play with fire, it's your responsibility to avoid burning yourself, not big brother.

There are an awful lot of us anymore. If even 5% of us can't figure out that gelled alcohol is hazardous around an open flame there are a lot of people accidentally setting shit on fire.

:)) :)) :)) :)) :))

This is the kind of thing I worry about living in the forest, people too stupid to drop their pants to use the bathroom.
I understand the point that some alcohol based flames a very hard to see, but a little precaution goes a long way...

I had a friend 30 years ago had his battery go dead in his car, nice 69 Camaro.
He couldn't see inside the battery, so he light his lighter to look down in the battery to see if it had water.

After he got out of the hospital 3 weeks later, he was shocked to see the left front of his car blown out like a stick of dynamite had been placed inside.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed around open flame... :))

DiD I mention he is deaf and blind on the right side?
