A top financial advisor, worried that Obamacare, the NSA spying scandal and spiraling national debt is increasing the chances for a fiscal and social disaster, is recommending that Americans prepare a "bug-out bag" that includes food, a gun and ammo to help them stay alive.

David John Marotta, a Wall Street expert and financial advisor and Forbes contributor, said in a note to investors, "Firearms are the last item on the list, but they are on the list. There are some terrible people in this world. And you are safer when your trusted neighbors have firearms."

Marotta said that many clients fear an end-of-the-world scenario. He doesn't agree with that outcome, but does with much of what has people worried.

"I, along with many other economists, agree with many of the concerns expressed in these dire warnings. The growing debt and deficit spending is a tax on those holding dollars. The devaluation in the U.S. dollar risks the dollar's status as the reserve currency of the world. Obamacare was the worst legislation in the past 75 years. Socialism is on the rise and the NSA really is abrogating vast portions of the Constitution. I don't disagree with their concerns," he wrote.

In his latest note, he said that Americans should have a survival kit to take in case of a financial or natural disaster. It should be filled with items that will help them stay alive for the first 72-hours of a crisis, including firearms.

Q PATRIOT!!!

Smart dude. I forgot how many millions of Americans supposedly have some level of prepping but the number was way bigger than I expected.

It all goes back to a lack of confidence in our government, in our fellow citizens and in human nature.
If you believe big government is the solution then you are a liberal. If you believe big government is the problem then you are a conservative.

True, and you know, in all my years, I haven't seen trust in your fellow man this low in my life time.
Absolutely no trust in govt, Wall street is nothing but an exposed Ponzi scheme, IRS,NSA, EPA are now the enemy of the people.
So when all Hell breaks lose, not one single person will put their trust in the current leadership to fix the problem, when they are in fact the cause of our collapse.

Something similar happened at the end of the Roman Empire. The people just tuned out and retired to the country. History repeats itself and that is what feels like is happening now.

Agree, we are following the very same steps the Romans did to their demise.

1. Loose fiscal policy leading to successive bubbles and collapses.
2. Excessive taxation that stiffled economic growth and distorted behavior.
3. The deliberate disarming of the population.
4. Turning their backs on Roman customs and traditions and adopting the dress and style of others.

We are more like them than anyone would care to admit.

DAMN! I was agreeing that, that's exactly what the Dims have done to the economy, till I read #3, and realized you were talking about Romans.

History repeats itself.

The seminal work of A.H.M. Jones on the Later Roman Empire spells this out in detail. And it's spooky how close it parallels what is going on today.

Same exact shit, different crisis!  I had a man come in my office--a sales rep from a GLASS manufacturer bring me in a long list of items and weapons on a computer printout that I needed to stock for the UPCOMING 'end'.  Clinton was President.  Let's see if anyone can figure out the common denominator!
