Wal-Mart Stores said it would offer customers who buy groceries online the option to pick up their orders from the parking lots of nearby stores.

The retailer will roll out the free service from this month in certain U.S. cities after trial runs proved popular, Michael Bender, chief operating officer of Wal-Mart's global ecommerce, wrote in a blog post on Tuesday.

Shoppers have to choose a pick up time and drive into a nearby store's parking lot, where associates would load the items into their cars, Wal-Mart said.

Vons(Safeway) will deliver groceries to your home.

I think it's a great idea, especially for shut-ins and people without transportation.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

I see this more and more now like the old days.   As a kid I can remember our laundry being picked up.  It was clean and folded and returned the next day.  (there were 6 of us kids)

Oh my, that's a lot of laundry.  I used to iron for other people when my kids were little.  I would put them down for a nap and crank out a lot of shirts.  I was really good at it.  Now I just buy the wrinkle free ones.

"Wrinkle Free" cannot compare with the crisp look of an ironed shirt!

I still iron my wrinkle free shirts.

There is a brand (at Costco of all places) where the shirts actually do come out wrinkle free.  You can't let them sit in the dryer and cool, take them out immediately and put on a hanger.  I still press some things, occasionally.

When I was a kid, my grandmother had a mangle.  She would let me iron her flat things like tea towels, pillow cases, table cloths etc.

I had a house boy in Korea that starched and ironed everything, including my underwear. I kid you not.

We have a mangle to this day and use it.

I haven't seen one in ages.  Most people today wouldn't even know what it is.

Had to replay the cord and the off and on switch, back about 8 years ago.

My Philippino houseboy in Saudi did the same.  My maid in Indonesia did the same.

They did a great job.  But I really prefer doing it myself.

Does it steam?

No we use a spray bottle.  It was my wife's grandmother.  We also had one when I was living at home, way back when.

Yeah, I don't think they ever rinsed the clothes, just threw soap, starch in one huge pot on a fire and scrubbed away.
They did do one thing I liked, they used DDT in the wash, really kept the little friends (chiggers) at bay.
