Time will tell how USMCA impacts the auto industry, but it doesn't seem that NAFTA wasn't terrible like people believe.

One of the key takeaways from the video is that USMCA increased the percentage of parts that have to come from North Americas earning at least $16/hr from 62% to 75% or the automaker has to pay a 2.5% tariff...

Yeah, I watched it too. It was made before anyone even knew what was in USMCA.

Good for auto manufacturers? I just stopped at that point because the person making the video was beyond clueless.  But, guys like Joe are their audience, so I guess there's that...

People like picture books and in this case, a toy car. What could be better than a toy car illustration for the ignorant.
Sad part is, they actually think they are up to date.
Taxed, we should do one on the Dim party and it's demise, using match sticks and a can of gas. Maybe then these people will grasp just how dire their situation.

Not necessarily...I didn't realize that the video was old. But the info which I posted about is still relevant.

Forbes covered it this year in a podcast.

QuoteThat's a requirement that a certain percentage of a car has to be made from parts that are sourced in North America. Under NAFTA, the agreed upon threshold was 62.5%.

What Trump and Lighthizer wanted to do is protect the domestic auto parts sector a little bit more than they were already doing. So they lifted that threshold to 75%. Initially, they wanted it to be 85% and the car companies complained and said, "We just can't do that. It's not possible to have an RVC threshold at 85%."

You're a myopic fool!!!
You focus on one tiny aspect regarding NAFTA and try and paint USMCA by comparison. There is no comparing the two, it wasn't all about cars Gumby!
Remember Perot and his claim of "A Great Sucking Sound"? He wasn't talking about cars, he twas talking about American Industry as a whole!

Do you even remember how our economy suffered as corporations uprooted and moved away? Trump is bringing them all back, and killing off NAFTA was an excellent start!

NAFTA, like USMCA covers lots of things other than cars.

Is there a good comparison for the other industries/aspects ?

Apparently, 90% of NAFTA is still in USMCA
