Donald Trump is ready to take an ax to government spending.

Staffers for the Trump transition team have been meeting with career staff at the White House ahead of Friday’s presidential inauguration to outline their plans for shrinking the federal bureaucracy, The Hill has learned.

The changes they propose are dramatic.

The departments of Commerce and Energy would see major reductions in funding, with programs under their jurisdiction either being eliminated or transferred to other agencies. The departments of Transportation, Justice and State would see significant cuts and program eliminations.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting would be privatized, while the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities would be eliminated entirely.

Overall, the blueprint being used by Trump’s team would reduce federal spending by $10.5 trillion over 10 years.

there are a lot of pundits saying that Trump said this and imho this really sounds great.  Some how it would sound better if it were true; anyone got a link to Trump saying his?

Trump’s budget cuts align in many ways with the Republican Study Committee’s 2017 “Blueprint for a Balanced Budget,” which only makes $8.6 trillion in cuts.

“A free society should not have government-supported media outlets, especially ones that so often convey political news and opinion,” the RSC report said. “There is no shortage of media outlets and news services available to consumers,” the report said.

“The federal government should not be in the business of funding the arts,” the RSC said of eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

What I posted is what The Hill said that Trump said.   You posted what the Daily Signal said that The Hill said that Trump said.

Maybe if we're lucky someone here will post a link to what Trump actually said.

If you were paying attention, you would have noticed that what Trump allegedly said came from the Republican Study Committee’s 2017 “Blueprint for a Balanced Budget"

It's all in the quotes.

OK  fine, your link to the Daily Signal not only said that The Hill said that Trump said but it also said that Trump’s [alleged] budget cuts align in many ways with the Republican Study Committee’s 2017 “Blueprint for a Balanced Budget” which was written by some House Republicans  --whatever that's worth.  None of this changes the fact that if we're lucky someone here will post a link to what Trump actually said.

The reason we need a quote directly from Trump is because like Solar was saying at http://conservativepoliticalforum.com/financial/mona-charen-trump-the-anti-business-businessman/ that we need to be

Trump's team has stated the Blueprint is where the cuts came from:

Quote
Along with major funding cuts to the departments of Energy, Commerce, Transportation, Justice and State, the plan—which the Trump team has said is modeled after The Heritage Foundation's Blueprint for Balance—would achieve this reduction in part by “targeting waste” like the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

Or is that an opinion piece too?

Hey, don't get me wrong I love opinions.  Your opinions, my opinions, everyone's altogether makes the world go around.  At the same time we both know that lots of stuff comes out in the news about what some guy supposedly said and later when we get a chance to see the actual quote made by the actual guy in the actual context --it's totally different.

imho Trump seems to play this process like a violin.  Sooo many times a oped will quote him as saying one thing and later if it goes over well we can see him somewhere else actually saying it in person (or maybe he'll put it in writing and sign his name to it --same thing).

otoh if it doesn't go over well he'll call the quoter a liar and move on.  He's a pro.  Meanwhile I'm looking forward to hearing or reading this $10T cut thing directly from the source.

What step would come before cuts?
