I hope this is the right forum. But I need some help/advice.

I had the IRS initiate some action not long ago. Which as it turns out, was someone attempting to use my info to file their tax returns.

Long story short, the IRS reported initially that I owed them five grand in tax, so the State says well you owe us over a thousand then too.

Eventually the IRS came back and said our bad, our mistake, nope you don't owe us anything.

They didn't bother to tell the State this however.

And then, without any summons to appear, any chance to answer in court whatsoever. I find out the state filed for, and was granted a tax lien, against a property I don't own, for taxation I don't owe.

Anyone have any idea how to fight/resolve this crap with the state? Aside from moving that is.
One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html
And no you won't find my "story" there. They don't allow science fiction. :)

What state?  In Calif. it would be the Calif. State Franchise Board.

I would call and get ahold of a live person to work with you.  They will probably need a copy of the IRS letter.  Be sure to get the person's name and direct phone number.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

I don't even understand how you can be granted a tax lien against a property you don't even own?   Looking up the word lien, the government is taking possession of a property that they say you own yet you don't even own.

If they're the prosecution and you're the defense then isn't the burden of proof is upon them to demonstrate that you own this property?

This makes absolutely no sense and it seems like we have people in governmental agencies who don't do their research property to make sure that they have accurate information.   It seems like the IRS consists of some buffoons who don't dot their I's and cross their T's.

By the way, I am sorry this is happening to you my friend.
