Although this video or article is about Montana's healthcare system it all evolves around the financial aspect. They went from $9 million-dollar deficit to a more than $100 million surplus in a short two years. All because one person brought attention to....numbers don't lie.
I'm looking forward to what Sharyl Attkisson has to report on other stories like "The Swamp".
Montana's Solution
We begin with the cost of health care. High—and still rising. The cost of medical and drug benefits is expected to rise 5% in 2019. The 6th year in a row with a 5% increase. Premiums and out-of-pocket costs for employees and dependents will average $14,800. Congress has struggled for years to fight the escalating costs— with little success. I thank you for this. I am 44 and have wanted to retire to Montana since I was 6 (when I first saw pictures of the mountains). Now, I want to live there tomorrow. :thumbup:
Thanks for this. IMO health care does not scale up well. Any attempt to change anything at the fed level ends up controlled by lobyists and we get Obamacare.
Norway has 5 million people and good healthcare. MN has 5 mollion people. Let us completely control health care and could have good cheap healthcare as well. The only solutions lie with the states
Mark Steyn noted this scale up problem years ago. NN Taleb has written about the inability to scale up everything as well.

The health care prices have risen so much because of insurance. Insurance/HMOs have gotten away with bribing state comptrollers to increase premiums for almost 3 decades.
Jail people for bribery/lobbying and the prices will normalize.
This is good. Negotiating pricing is a big aspect of M4A working. She even got the Unions on board.

Your observation is so wrong. Insurance prices are based on the cost of the exposure. The cost of insurance is designed to cover the cost of what is a covered plus a small percentage for profit. If anything, the insurance industry strives to keep prices of what they cover lower so as to not price the consumer out of the marketplace.

I would like to see the government get out of it and watch insurance companies compete for our business.
