Try explaining that and the minimum wage to a lefty! They support both until the bills come due, then they screech!

It bugs me to no end to hear lefties say the minimum wage is not a living wage. Hell, it is not supposed to be because the jobs that are worth the minimum wage do not command more in the marketplace. These jobs are designed to allow people to improve their skills and move onto a better paying job. I realize that is a simple explanation and the truth. However, with liberals the truth usually hurts.

It bugs me too, supsalemgr.  A teenager living at home or at a college dorm does not require a "living wage".  They require a small income to supplement what Mom and Dad are doling out and the discipline of learning how to navigate in the working world.  Summer jobs for students were never meant to provide a "living wage".   :cursing:

And just today Rick Santorum announced that he is FOR an increase to the minimum wage!!!
Scratch his name from the roster of potential Presidents.

I worked jobs in the summer from the time I had finished the ninth grade through college. I believe the minimum wage when I started was about $.25 per hour. At none of my jobs did I not receive more than the minimum wage. As I grew older I was able to get better jobs. That is my whole point. I would suspect Chick-fil-A pays more than the minimum wage and therefore have higher standards. That is just one example of why there is no need to raise the minimum wage.

As for Santorum, he was never on my list.
