You get notified - you MAY be asked to report of Jury Duty

Go - it's your civic duty
Go reluctantly - knowing you risk losing $$$ while out of work.
Try to honestly get excused - "I don't want to do this, because..."
Try to just get excused! -  I might have TB, can't sit for long periods, hard of hearing, etc.
Demand an excuse - "I am a Racist, Anarchist, Hang 'em all Judge, etc."  tell them anything to show you're BIASED.
Go and deliberately mess with the system, so they'll never make the mistake of calling you, again!
Go just to make sure Justice is DONE and the Perp gets the "chair"
Go just to make sure Social Justice is done and the cops get what's coming.
No opinion
Other - please post..

Absolutely right!  I believe stupidity should be painful, so no lawyer would ever allow me on a jury.

What was that John Wayne quote...
"Life is hard, life can be really tough if you're stupid"
LOL

So... to the smart guy that has an idiot for a boss/co-worker, a real pain in the kiester....

Sheesh, you're a walking stereotype for idiot.
If you've come here with the goal of making conservatives look stupid in collation, you failed miserably and stand in example of lone liberal troll fool on this forum.

No matter how loudly you shriek it to the heavens, it still won't make me a liberal, bub.  I consider trial lawyers a waste of oxygen and believe that juries should have the option of a verdict of "too stupid to breed."  Guy gets drunk, climbs a fence, and drowns in a swimming pool?  Not only should he not get a cent, his estate should be charged for the cost of having the pool drained, professionally cleaned, and refilled.  It is not GM's fault that car owners hung a pound of junk on their keys and wore out the ignition switch doing so!

I've always wondered if there's a blacklist for some people regarding jury duty. Years and years ago I was called for jury duty 3 times in ten years. The first two times were uneventful but the third time I was asked about jury nullification during an interview. I said I thought nullification was legitimate and gave what I thought were some good reasons. I was dismissed, I didn't even go back into the pool I was released from my obligation and sent home. That was 27 years ago and I haven't been called for jury duty since.

With the way things are going, and indictments coming the way of a lot of Dim libs facing charges, they better pray for jury nullification.

LOL - you're the type that lawyers fear the most!   Losing all that judgment money 'cause some jury just amended the law they spent years trying to massage into a lucrative career!

Living in Baltimore County, I get called about once per nine years, so I do my civic duty.

Baltimore City is a different animal: I guess because a lot more people have criminal records, or are spouses or close relatives of such people, a lot of people don't (can not ?) sit on juries. Add that to the folks who just were ignoring the summonses, and they had to really crack down a few years ago. People were serving about once per year. Now I think it is about once every 1 1/2--2 years.

I have actually sat on one jury. It was a medical malpractice case  It lasted five or six days. In my opinion, none of us were qualified to render a verdict on such a case; I do not believe any of us had taken more than high school biology. We got to listen to the dueling experts for a week. We sided with the doctor without debate. The victim died so we did take it quite seriously.

I got called in for grand jury duty two years ago.  That is some scary shit.  In that city, it was a three month term.  Four days a week from morning till around 2:00.

I don't know how most people can maintain a normal life with that commitment.  Luckily, they called in maybe 75 people to fill the spots, they filled it with about half volunteers from the pool, so most people who didn't want in were dismissed.  When it was my turn, I walked up to the judge, said "I'm self employed and can't imagine how I'd run my business like this." and was immediately dismissed with no questions.

Hmm...  The judge had nothing to say if I served or not.  It was the lawyers that said Yea or Nay.

If it was a hardship on you for jury duty you fill that out and why,  when sending in your paper work.  They would call you and let you know if you had to serve or not within about a week.

In my County, you volunteer and it's only once a week they meet, unless the DA asks for more time.

I'm in the "Other" category. In many states our justice system pampers the lawless and the victims remain scarred. I refuse to sit on a jury when I know that some filthy child predator will merely receive mandatory counselling and "rehabilitation" on my dime...which does not work in almost every case. The judicial system in liberal states like mine (WA) is a farce. I believe in draconian punishment for heinous crimes. My state does not.

I've never had to serve, but have been asked routinely. My excuse is "The defendant wouldn't have been arrested if he/she weren't guilty. Our state doesn't employ police to arrest law-abiding citizens...so every defendant is immediately guilty in my eyes before trial."

Once our system begins to dole out true justice...I'll gladly serve.
One more liberal President in 2016 will mean the irreversible, eventual and total demise of our democracy. The rise and fall of democracy IS past the "apathy stage" at this moment. If this  momentum continues on its present path, restoration of democracy will require the least desired of actions.

I live in the state of Wa. also and have no problems being on a jury.  There are a lot of people that have not been arrested that go to court for one reason or another.  But I am sure they will be happy to have someone with an open mine sitting on the jury.

That being said you must remember we are in the 9th district court of appeals that is a joke.
