Myself I hope she wins and other will follow.

TORRANCE, Calif. — A woman who expected her 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid to be her dream car wants Honda to pay for not delivering the high mileage it promised. But rather than joining other owners in a class-action lawsuit, she is going solo in small claims court, an unusual move that could offer a bigger payout if it doesn't backfire.

The upside of Peters' unusual move, she says, is that litigants are not allowed to have lawyers argue in small claims court in California. This means any award will not be diluted by attorney's fees. Honda would have to appoint a non-lawyer employee to argue its side in court.

"If I prevail and get $10,000, they have 200,000 of these cars out there. That's a potential payout of $2 billion," she said.

Wait, I missed the part where she's a "smart woman."  She bought a hybrid vehicle and it doesn't get the "right" mileage?  If she was smart, she'd know that the mileage for ANY vehicle is skewed upwards by the way that the tests are conducted.  Moreover, she apparently thought that a hybrid would drive further than a normal car, which isn't the case.

If by "smart" you mean that she was clever to take it to small-claims court rather than make it class-action, sure.  But she's a former lawyer.  So basically now we're praising lawyers for figuring out how to sue people more effectively to keep money away from other lawyers.  Big deal.  I'm tired of lawsuits.  How about instead she just sell her car?  OMG NO WAY!!

Let's stop praising people for being douches and suing companies or other people.  How about we just kill all the lawyers and former lawyers?
I call it like I see it.
