So, 1 out of 10 people is employed by the Federal, State, or Local government

I think that's a fine number.

What I really have to figure out is how many jobs depend on government funds. Because if you include those, the number of government employees would be much higher.

Of course to pay these people the government has to take money from the people working in the private sector. Who knows, if the government took less, maybe the private sector could pay more.

BS That way to high.  I say the private sector can do much better then the government, with less people and less money.

What is your ideal # for people working on the governments payroll? 25%? 50%?  75%? 100%

I don't have one. I don't think that 10% is too high, though.

Do you have an ideal # ?

I am all in favor of shrinking the government resulting in less people working for the government. I have never been a big fan of robbing the private sector in order to pay for the government workers.

Many things can be run more efficient in the private sector than from the government.

Just go to the DMV. Not enough people to serve you, nor is it efficient. A collusion among a monopoly. Long line stretching out the door just to get a number. Then, waiting forever to be called.
