Having been raised near the ATL airport I have always had an interest in Delta. In fact, my initial job goal was a job with Delta. It has come a long way from a crop duster company to where they are now. One of their ventures is providing maintenance to many other airlines worldwide. Now they plan to expand that business over the next few years.

This a great opportunity for folks and it does not require a 4 year degree. A mechanic can make up to $100K per year. What caught my interest in the article is Delta tells these folks they are low person on the totem pole when hired and that requires weekends and the midnight shift. To me that is understandable, but apparently it is a turn off for many. This another example of the younger generation not being prepared for the realities of life.

My son in law went to a technical school for two years to learn jet engine repair, United picked him up before he graduated. That was just over a year ago, he is already making 72K a year on the afternoon shift.

Screw college, if you want to get ahead quickly, there are tons of other avenues available. And to think, the Marxist actually said: "Those jobs are never coming back".

What discourages me is that too many folks don't understand starting at the bottom.

Millennial speaking to a potential employer.

"Entry level? Oh Hell no! Here's my list of demands."

I myself enjoyed the rotating shift work schedule where I move through a cycle of working during day, swing, and graveyard shifts.

It gave me more time for the wife and kids to do and plan thing.  Sleep time was not a problem for me as I could sleep before shift or after shift.
