In 2010, China became the world's leading manufacturer.
Here are the top 15 countries in 2014, listed in order of manufacturing output:

And your point is ----?

The point is, WE are becoming more dependent on China supplying our goods
than they are on us buying them.

Couple this with the fact that China is producing more engineering graduates
than America is producing in all fields of study,
it is becoming clear that, in about 10 or 20 years,
CHINA will dominate the world like America did in 1950!

China will be the sole superpower!
They'll push us around like the little dwarf we'll be compared to them!

That will NOT be good for anyone who cares at all about human rights anywhere!

Dori

What's the number of people in their workforce?

They have 3-4 times more in population than we have.

Out of our population of about 320 million, I think only about one third works.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

We must keep in mind that American companies own many of the suppliers in China. The reason is obviously wages. It has been proven that American companies are fully capable of bringing back manufacturing to the USA if cost of production becomes attractive to them. Your point about engineering students is well made. That is our problem as US parents and students do not see the value of those type degrees and they continue to waste money on liberal arts majors.

China has a law:  It is illegal for any Chinese company to have foreign majority ownership.
No foreigner will ever be allowed to own a controlling share of any Chinese company.
And if the factory is in China, the government can seize it in time of conflict.

The situation with engineering students is largely caused by American schools.
The schools are intentionally designed to NOT educate children.
They are designed to conduct political indoctrination.

Most teachers go into teaching because it's a way to get a college degree
and a fairly well-paying job
without having to take any serious math or science.

Their dislike of math and science rubs off on the children.
Long before 7th grade, they have been programmed to NEVER be interested in math or science!

Because of this, it is becoming impossible to "reshore" many jobs
because there are getting to be so few Americans capable of doing them!

Nominal GDP includes such things as:

- therapists for children didn't get picked to play ball
- Department of Education administrators
- D.C. beltway contractors (who write studies that never get read)
- political consultants
- fashion designers
- hairdressers
- nudie bars

I wanted to compare countries in terms of actual economic output - manufactured goods.

China is already the clear leader - and rising fast!

And they are world leaders/manufacturing role models for the very best in lead-based toys and merchandise! :tounge:
One more liberal President in 2016 will mean the irreversible, eventual and total demise of our democracy. The rise and fall of democracy IS past the "apathy stage" at this moment. If this  momentum continues on its present path, restoration of democracy will require the least desired of actions.
