It is fairly common to see comments that the service and cleanliness at Chick-fil-A stores are superior to McDonald's. Last week I visited a Chick-fil-A and saw they were looking for employees beginning at $13 per hour. Knowing the labor shortage we have here that did not surprise me. Today I went by two McDonald's running my errands and saw they were hiring at $11 per hour. That is just short of a 20% difference in starting salaries. What does that mean? It simply means Chick-fil-A will hire more qualified folks and herein lies the difference. Nobody is forcing the local Chick-fil-A to hire at this level. It is the market working.

Last time I was in town there was about 20 places looking to hiring people.  So I can see starting salaries going up for good people.

Here is an update on our local Chick-fil-A. They have now gone to $14 an hour for full time employees. I like it that the owner is very forthright in indicating they are looking for a higher level type employee. It certainly pays off for the franchise.

I am sure what they do for the employees is also a big part of keeping good help.  Not just the money.

We have a Chick-fil-A in our local Mall Food Court.

It's doing well, tho the Ha-Lal Restaurant across the aisle came and went.

When I want GOAT I'll ask for it.

Chick-fil-A began its expansion in malls only and was in malls only for so many years. Then they began building free standing stores and its growth exploded.
