The outlook for Brazil's economic health this year has worsened considerably, according to data published recently, as analysts weigh the impact of painful fiscal measures and consumers become increasingly worried about the future.

The U.S. economy continues to go upward as economies globally continue to struggle. Unemployment in the U.S. remains under six percent, housing continues to be solid, consumer confidence is up, retail spending is strong, and U.S. manufacturing output is robust.

Economic outlook 2015 suggests that U.S. economy will continue to improve as economies globally continue to struggle.

I can't take any author seriously that hasn't enough commonsense to question US UE claims of 6% when half the American workforce is on food stamps.
Then to go on and tout we're in a recovery based on our stock mkt that the FED keeps aloft with a house of cards for a foundation?
Think about that, the FED is running QE infinity, of course claiming the stock mkt would be a safe bet, because this potus is a crony capitalist that loves Wall st

In short, this article is a POS. If the US truly were in a recovery, the rest of the world would be following along.
If one looks at Brazil's economic history, it takes on a delayed shadow effect of the US economy, as with most Nations, the US is the economic driver.
We sneeze, the world catches a cold, we catch a cold, the world is vomits, but when we get sick, the rest of the world lies in bed in a coma.

Yeah, if you are naïve enough to use the official variables for unemployment then we are doing great in Norway too. We only have 2% unemployment (nevermind that that 20% of the workforce is receiving unemployment benefits, but because they attend government work seminars they are not unemployed) lol

Brazil is turning into another petro-socialist tyrannical state like Venezuela. They have already hold Communist Congress where the ruling elite claimed to finally fulfilled the revolution and made the country an unofficial one party state. Can also remember Agenda 21 being implemented with force in Brazil so it is no wonder the economy is taking a hit, and might just be what the communist wants. When poor people are desperate they will agree to any tyranny as long as it promises free bread and unlimited jobs.

I do think your own Marxist have us beat though in ludicrosity, when an unemployed person gives up at searching for jobs he is counted as a discouraged worker which apparently is a job occupation as an unemployed because he is no longer part of the unemployment statistic.

This is the second straight post in which you unrealistically prop-up the American economy.  It's stagnant

And your link doesn't even mention Brazil, whose socialist President is on-track for one the quickest impeachments in history... see the imbedded NPR-link:

Quote"At 66% of GDP its gross public debt is the highest of the BRIC countries. Its bonds yield 13% — more than Russia's. Rates could rise further. Fitch, a credit-rating agency, puts Brazil one notch above junk, but it has more debt, bigger deficits and higher interest rates than most countries in that category.

So the only reason Brazil credit rating is not junk is out of political consideration in sustaining the communist party.

Quoteshe has been a leading light in the São Paulo Forum (SPF), a global terrorist cabal organized by her pal Fidel Castro and only lightly disguised as a political forum.

However, Dilma Rousseff's comrades in the global media choir may not be able to cover for her much longer; economic realities may outstrip their ability to  spin a positive image for Brazil's Red Queen.

She is trying to set up a one party state based on Putin's model. Will be interesting to see if they can stomp down the protestors and hold on to power and also see if how much aid the Democratic US administration will support her communist regime with.

Isn't it amazing how unlucky leftist governments are when it comes to their economies?

Brazil is in very deep doo-doo.

When I was there recently I saw the catastrophic failure of the socialist regime..

So sad to see such a beautiful country in such shambles.

At least the worse the economy gets the cheaper it is to go on vacation there, until it turns into Greece and their economy implodes..

But in all seriousness if Brazil turn communist they will be able to overthrow all other South American government through proxy rebel groups and political parties through the Sao Paulo forum, especially with the help from China, Russia and even the US. With the established slave economies they can flood the US with cheap agricultural products through free trade agreements possibly outsourcing the US agricultural base.

Norway has high protection tariffs which the Norwegian "conservatives" want to abolish, but when the import will be based on slave labor from Africa, Asia or South America then the Norwegian farmer can't compete at all. Wonder how many generations it takes to make a people agriculturally incompetent...
