I just read an article about thriving for american dream and how it is percieved from another point of view. It leaves me stunned how many people believe in a big "american dream" but at the same time they let themselves be ruled by big corporations. People do not think about how much corporations rule their life. Only after they realize that they are not free until they see the big picture they have to be sleep in order to achieve american dream.
This is not just a dream, it should be a way of life. a way of freedom.
What do you guys think would be corporations thriving for if they announce "american dream" in their advertising campaigns.

Oh great, a one topic LIBertarian, Big Evil Corporations!!!
Son, you have no idea just how infinitesimal and myopic your view of the big picture really is.
You focus on one tiny aspect of a broken leg our culture and want to amputate.

This needs moved to Financial forum.

It is interesting that so many people do not understand the purpose of corporations. They exist to provide a return to their shareholders. They are not entitlement organizations. In order to deliver the desired return they must deliver goods and services that are desired in the marketplace. How they do this setermines how they are perceived as corporate citizens as PR is a big piece of the equation of success. McDonald's is not bad because they make huge profits. They are delivering a desired product efficiently and profitably.

In their view, big equates to evil, which is a liberal ploy to destroy free mkt principles.
In addition it is the Govt interfering in the free mkt like that of a symbiotic leach/host relationship, and the answer the LIBertarian comes up with, is more Governmental interference.
Yeah, that should work out well.

Henry Ford is a perfect example of why corporations work to the benefit of the people, he created a product cheaply, and efficiently.
Granted, he killed off some competition, but he improved the Mkt overall.

From Adventuremkt's link:

QuoteMcDonalds burger is pretty cheap, compared to the cost McDonalds pays to produce it, McDonalds profits are much more than what would be considered "fair."

Yep, anymore the only ones dictating fairness is the left, and we see just how well that's working out.

I can appreciate his passion, though I wish they wouldn't be so myopic in their efforts and try and understand the topic in an more in depth way.
They glom onto Libertarianism without understanding what it's all about, which tends to piss of true Libertarians and water down it's true meaning.

QuoteKarl Marx predicted that while such a system may be successful temporarily, corporate greed would eventually turn businesses into mere profit-seeking institutions ignoring the welfare of the consumer and the worker while pushing smaller "capitalists" (i.e. business owners) into the working class.

I don't know many libertarians who would agree with this!

Nor do I know any who would consider the US economic system a free market.

Which is the point, he claims Libertarian status, but has no idea what a Libertarian is.
