BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Bill Cosby could be returning to the network with a new comedy as soon as next summer.

The series, described as a "classic, extended-family sitcom" with Cosby as the patriarch, is currently in the writing stage, NBC executives said at Sunday's session of the summer TV critics' tour. It was first announced in January.

Lemme guess... he's a wise, life-experienced sage surrounded by a spectrum of environmentally-correct, politically-sanitary know-it-all grandkids.

* yawn *

Does it hafta be a 'comedy'?  Sheeesh...

It should be a situational drama, with humor...

Like, say:  Stadium Seating... Bill is the owner of a huge sports-complex.

Filmed In Vancouver... Bill is a retired Toronto ad-exec, who's now a consultant to American TV-crews.

Barrier Reef... Bill's an ex marine-biologist attempting to retire in peace in a Sydney boat-canal neighborhood.

Serve The Chef... He's an abrasive food-critic who... blah blah blah

Cosby's too talented to be re-hashed.

Oh-oh...

Then it's The Pants In The Family... Bill is a cranky real-estate developer (with a gay son) who marries a vivacious cougar, with a gay daughter...  The economic-climate forces both offspring, and their mates, to 'move back home'.
