This game rocks, I wish they would make it a movie.
The game starts out during WWII, and slowly progresses to the early 1950s, you are Vito a young Italian immigrant, that befriends the local bully, after the war, they meet up again and the bully (Joe) is in with the mob, so he recruits Vito, and from there, you work your way up through the mob.

At first the game takes a week to get through, but only because you want to watch the cut scenes, (two hours worth) which are done to total perfection!!!
These alone are worth the price of the game, seeing how you will spend that much on two tickets to the movies.

The action scenes are excellent, but!
Yes, there is a but, once you've seen the cut scenes, you are done with them and can easily skip them, now the game moves much more quickly, which explains why you can't save the game until the mission is over.

The downside of the game is, you can blow through it in an afternoon, by skipping the cut scenes.
It has other downsides, but despite these, I highly recommend it, the game has the ability to immerse you in the Golden years.

Oh, almost forgot, the soundtrack is hits from the 40s and 50s, you can change the radio in the car to one of three stations at anytime.
Some songs truly suck, but some will bring back memories.

Well worth $50.00.

Thought you'd sneak a new board in on us when we were busy entertaining ourselves, did you? Ha! Busted!

I figured I'd do a coverall for entertainment, this can include sports, a subject I have no interest in, whatsoever. ;D

Football is committee meetings punctuated by violence. I forget who said that.

Now, as for television......  You sure you want to call this ENTERTAINMENT if we wind up doing as much bashing in that sub-topic as I expect there will be here? I know I can't contribute because I pulled the plug about three years ago and haven't regretted it once.

Movies? More to hate than like, with whiny egocentric drug-addled children in charge. Shades of the 60s and early 70s...man. Gross-out humor unfunny to the extreme. Lenny Bruce gone mean.

Games? Not my thing. My wife is fairly senior in a couple of on-line games (I think one is Star Pirates and the other I think is Spy Battle). Me, I dive into DVDs of key TV series from the recent and not-so-recent past. Old movies. Obscure stuff that would bore hell out of anyone who didn't love what Hollywood used to be, before the diaper crowd came in, already needing a change.

A family of four drops that on a movie and snacks these days. I recall when I could do it on 50 cents.

We also don't have TV.  I do Netflix and get series we like to watch - old and new.  For Solar's late night viewing we buy the old westerns, horror, and cartoons. (He loves the old Warner Brother ones.)  I will admit I have been sucked in by some of the old horror :D classics myself and end up staying up way to late..

Now I can remember that 25 cents would get you into the movies with 3 films, and that also got you a drink and pop corn.  So you were good for 4 hrs.   ;D

I the last 2 movie the good wife and I did the people around us were so load we just stopped going.  She has about 300 + DVD and videos from the money we saved by staying home.

If you're lucky enough to live near a college town, you'll find used-DVD shops that can save you huge money. College kids toward the end of the present term wind up dumping a lot of great material. I got Deadwood for about $40 that way, compared to about $120 the retail price. The average film costs me $3.50 or less, stretching my money all the more.

Back in my day it was at least two or three cartoons, maybe a serial episode of something (often a western or jungle adventure), and a double feature, all for 25 cents plus treats. Popcorn was a dime, drinks the same. Some of us swore we'd never go into the theater again if we had to pay the adult price of 50 cents. And the adults said the same when their price went to 60 cents and then $1.
